Can you believe that I only began taking portraits of people about 4-6 months ago?! (it doesn’t hurt when your subjects are as beautiful and stunning as mine have been)
THANK YOU TO ALL THE BEAUTIFUL GIRLS WHO HAVE HELPED ME BUILD MY PORTFOLIO FROM THE GROUND UP!
I truly and sincerely appreciate it – especially the girls who had faith in me when I couldn’t demonstrate my ability in this department – you know who you are 😉 I had another amazing Model Mayhem Experience yesterday. I now only shoot extremely limited TF projects – We killed it yesterday! (See the photos)
A lifestyle / portrait session costs only $150, lasts about an hour and yields approximately 25-50 professionally edited images!
I’m starting to really consider the possibilities with body painting – Initially I didn’t think it was something I had much interest in, but this is fun! I finally had the pleasure of working with Chanelle (http://www.modelmayhem.com/2008598) as well as my second opportunity to work with Cydney (http://www.facebook.com/misscydviciious) We survived poor weather, minimal shooting time, a dangerous backdrop and an early ‘lights out’ – not bad given the circumstances!
I guess I’m pretty well known for running around this town and shooting some of the more iconic & cliche scenes the city has to offer. For that I apologize; however, I would like to think that I at least put somewhat of a spin on these images we’ve all seen over and over again. I was bored tonight and went for a bike ride in search of a colorful sunset. The sunset wasn’t anything spectacular, but I did run into an old friend… Mr. Crab.
I had an amazing Model Mayhem experience with Jamie – what an absolute pleasure to work with and doll to spend time with (easy on the eyes too). What a natural beauty – check out that triple beauty mark near her lip! Gorgeous!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with two very talented young artists. The invite for me to come out and shoot a student’s body painting at John Cassablanca’s in Gastown came out over Facebook and I was a bit reluctant in all honesty. I’ve worked with ‘student makeup artists’ before and have never really been thoroughly impressed – until yesterday. The theme was She-Ra Princess of Power (from the 80’s cartoon, He-Man, in case you don’t know) and this girl (Cydney Macpherson) blew it away! She really exceeded all my expectations. Not to mention the gorgeous model (Christine Mercedes) who totally gave the character that sultry, high-fashion look. I’d love to work with these two again… who knows what magic we could make happen?!
I’ve been developing my portrait-taking abilities for the first time ever and I’ve stacked up a bit of confidence in that department now. I’d never really taken photos of people before and I’ve learned a lot in the past 6 months. All the technical considerations aside, in my opinion, the key to a good portrait is getting the subject to feel relaxed and to maintain natural body language and expressions.
I’m still doing TFCD on projects that interest me (there will be some really cool ones that I’ll be shooting & posting soon – stay tuned), but now I’m happy to add Portrait and Lifestyle Photography to my list of billable services.
